Introduction
A legacy of excellence in medical education
Founded in 1932, Bashkir State Medical University (BSMU) has built more than 90 years of experience in medical education and research. The university began with one faculty, General Medicine & today has 5 faculties and 81 departments, covering medicine, paediatrics, dentistry, preventive medicine, and pharmacy.
BSMU’s General Medicine faculty alone has produced approximately 16,000 physicians since its establishment. As of November 2023, the university had 15,112 students, including 5,207 international students from 60 countries. Its academic structure also includes 77 residency and 46 postgraduate programmes, supported by a 755-bed university clinic, providing students with extensive opportunities for clinical and practical training.

Ufa, Republic of Bashkortostan
Bashkir State Medical University is located in Ufa, the capital of Bashkortostan, with a population of over 1.2 million. The city covers approximately 708 km² and is one of Russia’s major educational and cultural centres.
The university’s main campus is situated in central Ufa, with Ufa International Airport approximately 20 km away. The city is well connected by buses, trams, trolleybuses and taxis, supporting convenient student travel.

Academic and research excellence
BSMU comprises five faculties and a Medical College, supported by extensive postgraduate and continuing medical education. More than 2,000 residents and PhD students train at the university, while around 7,000 physicians undertake postgraduate CME courses.
Its academic and research activities cover major medical fields, supported by clinical training and international scientific collaboration.
